Uses:

Herbs and spices that are generally safe for pets can add taste and nutrition to regular food or treats.   They contain healthy vitamins, minerals, flavonoids and antioxidants. Although many herbs, spices, and supplements meant for human consumption are safe for pets, some products specifically formulated for pets are available at TJ's Evergreen Herbal Market.

Adding them to your pet's daily routine, once or twice a day, may help improve the body's immune system, combat disease, and relieve inflammation or reactions to cancer radiation treatment.   They can be used to improve digestion, respiration, and nerves, as well as improve skin and coat, and increase aging and cognitive function.

All herbs and spices should be used with care.

Caution: Use for periods of 2 weeks at a time only. If you need to use for extended period of time, seek the advice of a Certified Herbalist or Holistic Veterinarian.

Some herbs and supplements may interact with certain pharmaceutical drugs (especially cardiac and hyper- or hypo-tensive drugs.) Consult your Veterinarian if your animal is prescribed and taking conventional medication.

As with all foods and supplements, be aware of allergies/sensitivities, and cease use if symptoms occur.

Following is a list of supplements, herbs and spices that are generally safe for pets. Some herbs may be safe in small amounts only. Dosage information is approximate. Generally, dosage is based upon pet's weight. Human dosage is usually based upon 150 pounds of weight. Adjust dosage per animal's weight. For any concerns, seek the advice of a Certified Herbalist or Holistic Veterinarian.
